Print 'Deffrwch y Bastads mae Cymru'n marw'
A4 reproduction of 'Deffrwch y Bastads mae Cymru'n marw' (Wake up, Wales is dying) produced in 1989 by an unknown creator or creators. The poster references the original painting 'Salem' (1909) by Curnow Vosper. Considered iconic, the painting reflects Welsh life and the noncomformist tradition in Wales. Some claim to see the devil portrayed in the fold of the central character in the painting. Reproductions of the painting could be found in many homes around Wales.
Especially commissioned by the National Library of Wales to coincide with the exhibition 'Dim Celf Cymreig-No Welsh Art' (16/11/24-6/9/25), from the personal collection of artist and art historian Peter Lord, what better way to share a memento of the exhibition than with this reproduction?
Measures: A4 (21cm x 29.7cm approx.)
