'The Mary Jones Way' by Des Marshall

The heartwarming, real life story of Mary Jones - a young girl living in rural Wales in the late 1700's.  In 1800, when she was only 15 years old, she walked barefoot from her home Ty'n-y-ddol to Bala to obtain a copy of the Welsh bible from the reverend Thomas Charles which is now housed in the archives at Cambridge University library.

This book follows a 29-mile route from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala. This is a very pleasant walk with fine mountain scenery, scenic valleys and very little main road walking.
The guide provides clear route-finding instructions and detailed sketch maps.  The paths are generally clearly signed, but it is advisable to take an Ordnance Survey map (sheet OL23 covers the whole route).
